The invention sets forth an injection pump in which the supply onset can beset freely for two different operating modes of the engine. The supply onset is attainedin the cylinder by use of a second control bore, which cooperates with a plunge cut in thecylinder and with a piston stop groove that extends longitudinally along the pump pistonfrom the upper control edge.
