The circuit is applicable to pulse widthmodulation, e.g. of a medium wave transmitter. As described, when thyristors 10, 121 areturned on the voltage at the right hand side of the load 20 becomes +V and a pulse +V issent along network 18 and reflected without inversion. The resultant voltage at the righthand side of load 20 is limited by diode 14 approximately to +V and turns off thyristor 10.This results in a pulse of approximately -V being sent along network 18 which onreflection cancels the voltage at the right hand side of the load 20. By triggeringthyristors 10 and 101 together, the voltage across load 20 is made zero and by varyingthe relative timing of triggering the pairs 10, 121; 101, 12 the output is pulse-widthmodulated.
