摘要：A system for collecting data from a communications network includes customerpremises equipment (“CPE”) for monitoring and storing response data. A CPE datacollection module uses a Web-based service to collect information from the CPE and
process the information to determine line quality and any errors that may exist on eitherthe WAN side or the LAN side of the communications network, and further determine theroot cause based on built-in business rules for trouble shooting customer service. TheCPE conducts per-tone diagnostics on the WAN side of the communications network andobtains WAN side data. The CPE obtains response data from devices on the LAN side.Both WAN side data and LAN data may be transmitted substantially in real-time orstored and transmitted periodically to the CPE data collection module upon requestsoriginated from the CPE data collection module.
