Table tennis , also called ping-pang, is a favorite sport in China , which is played all around the world and is an Olympic sport. The exact origin of table tennis is not known. What we do know is that it began in England in the 1890s. The game was popular with foreign visitors too, and soon it spread to much of Europe and Asia.
Table tennis is played on a table that is 2.74 meters by 1.525 meters and stands 76 centimeters from the ground. The net goes across the centre of the table and is 15.25 centimeters high. Many people played table tennis because it did not require played to go outdoors.
The majority of people believe table tennis is not only a physical game but a psychological game as well. Today, players from China, South Korea and German play leading roles in international table tennis competitions.
