Unit 6 When was it invented?

I. Teaching time: 40 minutes

II. Teaching content: Unit 6 When was it invented? (Section A 3a-3c)

III. Teaching goals: 1. Talk about the history of the tea.

2. Learn to use passive voice.

IV. Teaching difficulties: Due to Students’ lack of related knowledge about the tea and it’s not easy for them to retell the whole article.

VI. Teaching procedures:

Lead-in(引入):Do you know the three apples that changed the world? The first apple belongs to Adam and Eva. Because they stole the apple from the Garden of Eden, God created man. Look at the second apple, this one has changed the world of science and technology. The last one fell onto Newton’s head, so he found gravity. Here’s another accidental invention in China, which has changed the word. Do you know what it is?

Part I. Pre-reading (Aim: Prepare students for the reading and arouse students’ interest and thinking.)

1. How long has tea been the drink in China?

2. Does China have the longest history of tea?

3. How was tea invented?

4. Who invented it?

Part II. While-reading (Aim: Learn about the facts of the tea and try to use different reading skills)

Step 1: 1. Fast reading (Aim: Get the main idea for each paragraph)

Step 2: Detailed reading (Aim: Find out some detailed facts about the tea.)

2. How was tea invented?

3. Who is called “the saint of tea”?

4. What is Cha Jing about?

5. When was tea brought to other countries?

Step 3: Intensive reading (Aim: Try to understand the words and expressions in the article)

Task 1:
