TheLMV7219hasatypicalinputcommonmodevoltagerangeof−0.2Vbelowthegroundto1VbelowVcc.ThedifferentialinputstageisapairofPNPtransistors,therefore,theinputbiascurrentflowsoutofthedevice.Ifeitheroftheinputsignalsfallsbelowthenegativecommonmodelimit,theparasiticPNjunctionformedbythesubstrateandthebaseofthePNPwillturnon,resultinginanincreaseofinputbiascurrent. Ifoneoftheinputsgoesabovethepositivecommonmodelimit,theoutputwillstillmaintainthecorrectlogiclevelaslongastheotherinputstayswithinthecommonmoderange.However,thepropagationdelaywillincrease.Whenbothinputsareoutsidethecommonmodevoltagerange,currentsaturationoccursintheinputstage,andtheoutputbecomesunpredictable. Thepropagationdelaydoesnotincreasesignificantlywithlargedifferentialinputvoltages.However,largedifferentialvoltagesgreaterthanthesupplyvoltageshouldbeavoidedtopreventdamagestotheinputstage. TheLMV7219hasapushpulloutput.Whentheoutputswitches,thereisadirectpathbetweenVCCandground,causinghighoutputsinkingorsourcingcurrentduringthetransition.Afterthetransition,theoutputcurrentdecreasesandthesupplycurrentsettlesbacktoabout1.1mAat5V,thusconservingpowerconsumption. Mosthigh-speedcomparatorsoscillatewhenthevoltageofoneoftheinputsisclosetoorequaltothevoltageontheotherinputduetonoiseorundesirablefeedback.TheLMV7219have7mVofinternalhysteresistocounterpara-siticeffectsandnoise.Thehysteresisdoesnotchangesignificantlywiththesupplyvoltagesandthecommonmodeinputvoltagesasreflectedinthespecificationtable.Theinternalhysteresiscreatestwotrippoints,onefortherisinginputvoltageandoneforthefallinginputvoltage.Thedifferencebetweenthetrippointsisthehysteresis.Withinternalhysteresis,whenthecomparator’sinputvoltagesareequal,thehysteresiseffectivelycausesonecomparator-inputvoltagetomovequicklypasttheother,thustakingtheinputoutoftheregionwhereoscillationoccurs.Standardcomparatorsrequirehysteresistobeaddedwithexternalresistors.Thefixedinternalhysteresiseliminatestheseresistors. 10105418 FIGURE1.InputandOutputWaveforms,Non-InvertingInputVaried www.national.com8 元器件交易网www.cecb2b.com LMV7219AdditionalHysteresis Ifadditionalhysteresisisdesired,thiscanbedonewiththeadditionofthreeresistorsusingpositivefeedback,asshowninFigure2.Thepositivefeedbackmethodslowsthecom-paratorresponsetime.Calculatetheresistorvaluesasfol-lows: 1)SelectR3.ThecurrentthroughR3shouldbegreaterthantheinputbiascurrenttominimizeerrors.ThecurrentthroughR3(IF)atthetrippointis(VREF-VOUT)/R3.ConsiderthetwopossibleoutputstateswhensolvingforR3,andusethesmallerofthetworesultingresistorvalues.Thetwoformulasare: (whenVOUT=0)R3=VREF/IF(VOUT=VCC)R3=VCC-VREF/IF2)Chooseahysteresisbandrequired(VHB).3)CalculateR1,whereR1=R3X(VHB/VCC) 4)ChoosethetrippointforVINrising.Thisisthethresholdvoltage(VTHR)atwhichthecomparatorswitchesfromlowtohighasVINrisesaboutthetrippoint.5)CalculateR2asfollows: 0.1µFceramicshouldbeplacedascloseaspossibletoV+pin.Anadditional2.2µFtantalumcapacitormayberequiredforextranoisereduction. 2.Keepallleadsshorttoreducestraycapacitanceandleadinductance.Itwillalsominimizeunwantedparasiticfeedbackaroundthecomparator. 3.ThedeviceshouldbesoldereddirectlytothePCboardinsteadofusingasocket. 4.UseaPCboardwithagood,unbrokenlowinductancegroundplane.Makesuregroundpathsarelow-impedance,especiallywereheaviercurrentsareflowing. 5.Inputtracesshouldbekeptawayfromoutputtraces.Thiscanbeachievedbyrunningatopsidegroundplanebetweentheoutputandinputs. 6.Runthegroundtraceunderthedeviceuptothebypasscapacitortoshieldtheinputsfromtheoutputs. 7.Topreventparasiticfeedbackwheninputsignalsareslow-moving,asmallcapacitorof1000pForlesscanbeplacedbetweentheinputs.Itcanalsohelpeliminateoscil-lationsinthetransitionregion.However,thiscapacitorcancausesomedegradationtotpdwhenthesourceimpedanceislow.
