  编者按:生活中少不了各种各样的公共标记,商场的标记,电梯的标记,这些英文版的标记你看懂了吗?这些英语标记需要注意些什么呢。

  "Signs are put up to inform and give directions; that's what we have always believed anyway. Perhaps all expats have experienced the lack of signs and directions at various events and conventions in China. But there are times when signs are no help at all, except for, maybe, brightening up your day; they allow you to take a picture, share it on social media, and exclaim "LOL, READ THIS SIGN!" Check out a few of the more amusing examples below....."

  1. In case of emergencies…

  灭火瓶/灭火器:Fire extinguisher

  2. You know, one of those time sex things…

  "一次性用品":Disposable items

  3. They have the a very special service here

  Chinese: if you want to try it on, please ask a clerk for assistance.

  4. Wanna be racist? Find like-minded people at the racist park

  "民族园": Ethnic Minority Park

  5. How about let's not…

  It is encouraging readers to pee in the urinal. As for the “you are the best,” a literal translation would be “civility you are the best”… (reddit.com)

  6. It’s really popular with X-Men (For only 1.19 Yuan)

  Coconut jelly candy (reddit.com)

  "With the help of the Chinese colleagues, you were able to see exactly what went oh-so-wrong. It seems that there is some direct translation crime happening here. Everything is being literally translated word for word and creates a whole new (and hilarious) meaning in English. In some cases, the signs are written with characters placed to create a similar sound to the word in English however, when read and translated directly, they mean something completely different".

  7.In case you didn't know "son"

  The two characters together mean "cup" but separately the last character means "son". The placement of the characters caused them to be translated as separates hence the unnecessary addition of "son".

  8. "Exit"/"Export". . .either way it's out of here, right? It's National Museum!

  This is supposed to read “Exit”. Google translate the character "出口" and you will understand why the sign reads “Export”.

  9."Til death do us part?"...... Not for this couple…and their lungs

  A literal translation of the dish which was said to have been created by a couple. However, because it was literally translated, it created a whole new meaning in English, one which is probably associated with murder of some sort.

  10. Oh dear, this can't be good!

  What this is meant to say is "Hot dog doughnuts". The first two characters correctly mean hot dog and the last three together sound like the English word "doughnuts" but the last character 滋 (zī) in that particular phrase means AIDS (艾滋àizī).
