identifiers (e.g., 50a, 50b) further includes a second derived account identifier usable withthe second payment mechanism, further wherein the first derived account identifier is notusable with the second payment mechanism and the second derived account identifier isnot usable with the first payment mechanism. The method further comprises providingthe plurality of derived account identifiers to the consumer; monitoring whether theplurality of derived account identifiers have been compromised or expired; creating, usingthe server computer, a replacement derived account identifier if an account identifier inthe plurality of derived account identifiers has expired or has been compromised, whereinif one of the derived account identifiers in the plurality of derived account identifiers isused fraudulently, any other derived account identifiers are not compromised. The
method further comprises associating the replacement derived account identifier withthe permanent account identifier and with the payment mechanism associated with theexpired or compromised derived identifier; storing the replacement derived accountidentifier in a database; and providing the replacement derived account identifier to theconsumer, wherein the first and second derived account identifiers are configured to beused to conduct payment transactions using the first and second payment mechanisms,wherein the first and second derived account identifiers are used to determine thepermanent account identifier to complete the payment transaction. 8878942 1
