Many years ago, I had a dream, which did with being the best I could be, learning the
most I could learn, and making it to the top of an organization I worked for. Well, I lived my dream day in and day out, took risks, moved away from my family to continue my quest, set about studying at night to earn further, and after many years, I accomplished what started out as a dream.
The quote “Follow your dreams, transform your life.” Is still with me nowadays. And,
it is even more valid today. You see, I left that company several years ago to follow a new dream. The new dream meant that I had to start over again with a lot to learn and many challenges. That dream is still alive today despite the difficulties and challenges. But, through all those challenges, it never occurred to me to quit; just the opposite.
Just having a dream doesn’t mean the road is going to be easy. In fact, to follow one’s
dream can often mean enduring more than you ever have before, moving completely out of your comfort zone of security and spending hours upon hours of hard work without knowing that the path is paved or full of pot holes.
So, why follow your dream if the road is bumpy(崎岖不平的)? Just because it is a dream
that you own and does not belong to anyone else, nor is it living a life that is controlled by other people. It is a dream that makes you excited to get up in the morning knowing that you have full control of your own life and what you do or do not do is your choice. 25. C. what chasing your dream actually means

A. It is proper for people to live a wealthy life. B. It is exciting to have full control of one’s own life. C. It is common for people to have various dreams. D. It is natural to follow one’s dream despite hardship.
28. The author’s purpose of writing the text is to show_________. A. the form of our dream
B. the hardships in our life
D. the disadvantages of following our dream

My 18-year-old son passed his driving test last year. But my responsibilities linked
to this event for a year were not my favourite. As the mother and sole parent, I’m up for the challenges. However, I don’t care for the challenge of being a Driving Instructor. I feel I did a good job. I was fairly patient, not too nervous. I didn’t want to make my son nervous because I was!
Many hours were spent with him in the driver’s seat. I couldn’t take my eye off the
road around us, always assuming idiot drivers will make mistakes. Mostly he was good. Several times he expertly avoided near collisions, which were the fault of the other drivers. One day though, while driving through Tim Hortons, he drove up to the window but couldn’t reach
it to collect his order. So he undid his seat belt and reached over, and I heard the car engine roar. As he reached over, his foot depressed the gas pedal to the floor. Thank goodness he had palced the gear in park. Thank goodness I had taught him to do this.
Two weeks ago he drove on the highway to Oakville. I was nervous. It was Thanksgiving
weekend with everyone on the highway. I told him to slow down or stop a thousand times. “Mum, relax, you such a back seat driver.” he said. We made it there but he hasn’t driven much with me since. He told me he isn’t going to as I criticize him too much when he’s driving. This reminded me of the days when his dad was my passenger in the car. He would stretch his feet out to the imaginary pedals and grab the dash board like I was flying an airplane. How did that help me? It didn’t. It made me nervous and I stopped driving if he was in the car.
I wonder how you stop being the driving instructor after being it for a year, especially
now my 16-year-old daughter is starting to learn with me in the passenger seat. Lord help me please!
33. Which words can be used to describe the author? A. Kind and creative. C. Stubborn but careful.
B. Brave and caring.
D. Clever and hardworking.
34. How did the author like her work as a driving instructor for a year? A. Worthy.
B. Boring
C. Interesting. D. Unsatisfactory.
35. Paragraph 2 is mainly about _________. A. the author’s skilled driving B. the author’s worry about her son
C. the author’s feeling about her son’s driving D. the author’s success as a back seat passenger 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)

We are now living in a information age, in which TV, cellphones and the Web are wide used. It seem that many people cannot enjoy themselves without it. However, unless I were to give up one of them, I would turn off TV rather than to switch off my cellphone or cut off the
Internet. I can do without TV because few shows attract me and there are too many ads. Besides, most programs on TV are available elsewhere, either. As for cellphones and the Web, they are less necessary for me. I need a cellphone to keep in touch my family and friend.
