Here's an essay about the difficulties college students face in life, written in English from the perspective of an elementary school student, with a length of approximately 2,000 words. College Life is Super Tough, but I Believe in My Big Brothers and Sisters!
Hi there! My name is Tommy, and I'm a 10-year-old kid who loves learning about the world. Today, I want to talk to you about something that has been on my mind lately – the struggles that college students go through. You see, I have a lot of older siblings and cousins who are in college right now, and from what I've seen and heard, it's not an easy ride!
First of all, let me tell you about the financial struggles that many college students face. College is expensive, like really expensive! My big sister, Sarah, has to work two part-time jobs just to pay for her tuition and living expenses. Can you imagine having to juggle classes, assignments, and two jobs at the same
time? That's crazy! But that's the reality for a lot of college students these days.
Then there's the academic pressure. College courses are way harder than anything we learn in elementary school. My cousin, Jake, studies engineering, and he has to deal with complex math equations, physics problems, and programming assignments that make my head spin just thinking about them! And let's not forget about the dreaded exams – those can make even the smartest students break out in a cold sweat.
But academic struggles aren't the only challenges college students face. There's also the social aspect of college life. It can be tough to make new friends, especially if you're shy or introverted. My brother, Matt, told me that adjusting to living with a roommate was one of the hardest things he had to do during his first year of college. Imagine sharing a tiny room with a complete stranger and having to negotiate things like study schedules, cleaning routines, and guest policies!
And then there's the homesickness. Many college students have to move away from their hometowns and families, which can be really tough emotionally. My cousin, Emily, says she misses her mom's cooking and her dog, Buddy, terribly. It's not easy being away from the people and things you love the most.
But you know what? Despite all these challenges, I have mad respect for my big brothers, sisters, and cousins who are braving the college life. They're working hard, pushing through the obstacles, and pursuing their dreams. And that's what really matters in the end, right?
I remember when my brother, Matt, was struggling with a particularly tough class last semester. He was stressed out, sleep-deprived, and even considered dropping the course. But he didn't give up. He reached out to his professor, got some extra tutoring, and buckled down even harder. And you know what? He ended up acing that class! That's the kind of determination and perseverance that college students need to have.
So, to all my big brothers, sisters, and cousins out there in college – hang in there! I know it's tough, but you've got this. Remember why you're doing this in the first place – to build a better future for yourselves and maybe even change the world someday.
And to all the other college students reading this, just know that you're not alone. We little kids are rooting for you! We admire your dedication and hard work, and we can't wait to see what amazing things you'll achieve.
Keep pushing forward, stay strong, and never give up on your dreams. College life may be super tough, but with determination and a positive attitude, you can conquer any obstacle that comes your way.
Go get 'em, college students! You've got this!

University Life is No Piece of Cake!
Hi there! My name is Tommy and I'm 8 years old. My big brother Jake just started university last year and he's always complaining about how hard it is. I don't really get what the big deal is, but grown-ups tell me I'll understand when I'm older. Still, it sounds like university students have it pretty rough! Let me tell you all about the struggles my brother goes through.
First of all, there's the studying. Oh my goodness, does Jake ever study a lot! He's always got his nose buried in some big, dusty book. Even when we're watching movies together, he has his laptop out and is typing away furiously. Whenever I ask him what he's doing, he gets this pained look on his face and says \"Writing a paper...\" Whatever that means!
Sometimes Jake has to read hundreds of pages before his next class. He tells me it's because professors just keep piling on
the homework. I don't know how he keeps it all straight in his head! My teachers only give us a couple of worksheets per week at most. I can't imagine having to read whole encyclopedias worth of stuff, then spitting it all back out again on test day. No wonder university kids are always stressed to the max!
Speaking of tests, Jake is always freaking out about them. You'd think they were life-or-death situations the way he agonizes over them. A few days before each exam, he turns into this sleepless, jumpy, coffee-chugging zombie. It's kind of funny to watch but also a little scary. I overheard him telling his friend Kyle once that a single bad grade could utterly wreck his GPA and then he'd never get into grad school and his whole future would be ruined forever and ever. Geez, relax dude! It's just one little test. If I bomb a quiz, my parents might be bummed for a day but then we all move on with our lives. No biggie! Why do university students put so much pressure on themselves? Another thing that sounds like a huge pain is group work. Every few weeks Jake has to team up with his classmates on these massive project things. You wouldn't believe how much time and effort they waste just trying to pick a meeting time that works for everyone's schedules. Then during the meetings, at least one person always shows up twenty minutes late or forgets
to bring their part of the work. Jake says this leads to tons of arguments and hurt feelings. On top of that, there are always those group members who slack off and leave Jake and his friends to do their share of the work too. What's the point of even doing group work if it causes that many headaches? In elementary school when we get assigned group projects, we put literally zero effort in. We just goof off and doodle for an hour. Maybe university kids should try that approach!
Another major source of stress for poor Jake is money. Paying tuition has his parents slaving away at, like, three jobs each. Books and supplies are crazy expensive too. But even after shelling out thousands of dollars, most university students are still flat broke! I always see Jake scrounging and budgeting to be able to afford basic stuff like food, doing freelance gigs
whenever he can. It doesn't seem fair that people bust their butts just to get an education, which I thought was a basic human right? Elementary school is free because the government knows kids need to learn. Well, university students are still kids too, kinda! They're just trying to better themselves like we're supposed to. So why do they have to go into crazy debt just to grow their brains?
Last but not least, let's talk about Jake's social life - or lack thereof. My brother used to be Mr. Popular back in high school, always out with his friends and flirting with girls. These days he has zero free time for any of that fun stuff. It's just classes, work, study, sleep, and the cycle repeats. Sometimes he'll text his high school crush asking to grab lunch, but she's always busy. Or they make plans but then Jake has a project due or a huge exam coming up so he has to cancel. He tells me maintaining relationships is impossible with the insane university lifestyle. That's probably why Jake has low self-confidence now, when he used to be a super social, happy-go-lucky dude. It breaks my heart to see him all cooped up and lonely in his dorm room like a modern-day Quasimodo. No grade is worth losing your zest for life!
So those are the main struggles university students face from what I can tell based on Jake's experiences. Academics, money, group work, excessive stress...it all sounds like my worst nightmare! I'll tell you what, if going to university means you have to work that hard and sacrifice that much, you can count me out. I'll happily stick to the simple life of an elementary schooler where the biggest challenge is remembering to raise my hand before speaking out of turn. If you need me, I'll be over
here, coloring and playing kickball with my friends. Let me know when you're ready to join us, Jake!

Being a Uni Student is Really Hard!
Hi, my name is Timmy and I'm 8 years old. My big sister Sam just started university a few months ago. She used to live at home with me and my parents, but now she lives in a tiny apartment near her campus. I don't get to see her as much anymore because she's always so busy with her studies and university life.
From what I've seen, being a university student is really, really hard! Sam always looks so tired and stressed out. She has to wake up super early for her classes, like 7am some days! That's way too early if you ask me. And her classes are long too, like 3 hours at a time. How can anyone sit still paying attention for that long? I'd be falling asleep for sure.
But it's not just sitting in class that takes up Sam's time. She also has tons of homework, readings, essays, and projects to do. Sam is always typing away on her laptop working on something. Sometimes she stays up until the middle of the night finishing
her assignments. Mom and Dad get worried and tell her not to overwork herself, but there's just so much to do.
Another thing that seems really hard is making new friends at university. Back in high school, Sam had her same group of besties that she'd known since kindergarten. But when she started uni, she didn't know anyone! She had to start all over meeting new people. Sometimes groups of students have already formed their little circles, and it's hard for her to join in. Sam says she feels lonely a lot.
Money is another big stress for university students from what I've seen with Sam. Tuition fees are crazy expensive, like thousands and thousands of dollars per year! Plus she has to pay for textbooks, school supplies, rent, food, transportation, and everything else. Sam had to get not one but TWO part-time jobs just to try to cover her costs. Between classes, homework, and working, she has zero free time for fun. Her life is all work and no play!
I feel really bad for Sam because the pressures of being a university student make her stressed and unhappy a lot of the time. She doesn't get enough sleep, she's always rushing from one commitment to the next, and the workload is never-ending. It's taking a toll on her mental and physical health for sure.
Some other big struggles I've noticed are:
• Having to navigate things like course registration, financial aid, and other bureaucracies that seem really confusing
• Feeling uncertain about her future career path and what to choose as a major
• Dealing with subpar university housing, dining hall food, and other facilities
• For some, being away from family and hometown for the first time and feeling homesick
• Figuring out how to take care of herself with groceries, cleaning, laundry, etc.
What surprises me most is that Sam knew university would be hard work, but I don't think she realized just HOW hard it would be. The sheer amount of resilience, time management, and adulting skills required is really overwhelming, especially for someone right out of high school. No wonder so many students feel burnt out!
To be honest, watching Sam's experience as a first-year student has me feeling nervous about going to university myself eventually. I'll have to work EXTRA hard in school from now until then so I'm prepared. Or who knows, maybe I'll take a different
path and skip university to become a pro video gamer instead! At least for now, being a kid still in elementary school is a million times easier than the struggles Sam is facing.
If any university students are reading this, I admire your determination and work ethic. Kudos to you for pushing through the difficulties! Just don't work too hard - be sure to make time for fun with friends, hobbies, and plenty of rest too. You'll get through it bit by bit. Sam tells me it's all worth it in the end when you get that degree you've worked so hard for. I'll be cheering her on every step of the way!
