My dear boys and girls, good morning. Today I’m going to talk to you about my understanding of learning history.
______66______ You may often wonder why we students should study something that has nothing to do with our own lives. If you think that way, I should say you are far from the truth.
In fact, if we study history, we can learn quite a lot about personal stories and events(事件). ______67______ Studying the past helps us to understand what our ancestors’(祖先)lives were like. And it also helps us to see how their experiences have shaped our own life.
To be honest, not everything that happened in the past is good. Some of them helps us understand the mistakes of the past. And these mistakes will help people not to do the same wrong things. ______68______ Whether we like the subject of history or not, we must understand the importance of the events and the people who came before us. And the decisions of our own generation(一代人)will finally influence those who come after us. ______69______
History is not just a study of the past. History is the study of people, places, and events that can influence the future.
______70______ Or do you have any doubt(疑问)about learning history? If you have any question, just feel free to ask.

Life is not perfect. It has never been and never will be. We often complain about(抱怨)the
weather, the traffic, and the plants in our yard. We complain about tight clothing, misplaced keys, late planes. 96 Here are some useful steps to help you complain less.
Consider the importance of accepting the change. 97 But when given the choice(选
择), most of us would prefer to give life rather than waste life with our words.
98 Life is not always going to achieve what we would like (or even expect) at every
turn. There will be trouble. Again, this is okay. And the sooner we can accept the fact that our contribution(贡献) is far more needed than our pleasure.
Avoid beginning conversations with a complaint. Often, when we talk with a complaint,
we’ll begin to complain too. So, try not to begin conversations with a complaint. 99 .
Notice your triggers(触发). 100 Morning, evening, or late afternoon? When you are
drinking coffee or having lunch with your friends? Maybe it is around the water cooler with your co-workers. Take notice. Then, avoid triggers if possible.
Complaining achieves little purpose in our lives. We’d live happier without it. Moving forward, let’s accept the actual instead.
A. Please accept an imperfect world as possible as you can. B. Are you speaking to someone who can help solve the problem? C. Many of us complain only because we never considered there may be a better way. D. Is there a time period of the day you want to complain more than others? E. It isn’t enjoyable to spend time around people who often complain. F. How might we begin to overcome the habit of complaining? G. And try spreading some cheer with your opening line instead. 答案:
96.F 97.C 98.A
99.G
100.D

In the countries all over the world, people are leaving the countryside in large numbers to
find jobs in the cities. They leave because the countryside is much poorer than the city. 101 Services such as hospitals and transport are usually much better in cities than they are in the countryside. They hope that their lives will improve when they move to the city.
But in the big cities of Europe and America, people are moving out of the city. These are usually families who have
some money, and want to live a quieter life. 102 And they are tired of the crowded streets, crowded trains and buses. They don’t want to sit in traffic any more. They want a house with a garden, and clean air that isn’t polluted.
So they move out. Some don’t go very far, just a little way out of the city, to the towns near
the cities, and other people move to the real countryside with sheep and cows and green fields! ___103___
104 After two or three years, many people who have done this feel that it was a big mistake. They don’t make so much money and there isn’t much work to do. Country people are very different and aren’t always very friendly.
As a result, quite a lot of people who have moved to the countryside move back to the city.
“It’s wonderful to see crowds in the streets and cinema lights,” they say, “ 105 ”
A. We’ll never leave the countryside! B. I’m so glad that I’m back in the city! C. And often there isn’t much work there. D. They are tired of the noise and the dirt of the city. E. Most old people prefer to stay in their hometown. F. There, they start new lives and try to make new friends. G. But not all those who move from the city to the countryside are happy.
