of which of predefined patches to use for playback and which of predefined notes toplay; and events of a second type which are identifiable separately from events of thefirst type and which are arranged to carry additional content. The method of
decomposing a multimedia signal comprises the step of parsing the signal to identifyevents of the second type and to read the additional content; loading coded samples ofmultimedia content at an address specified in the additional content; and decoding thecoded samples to provide decoded samples for playback of the multimedia content.Thereby, it is possible to convey vocal song or vocals and other audio type signals in anefficient way by means of the widely used MIDI protocol.
