Theadvanceddevelopmentofvehiclesinthelastfewyearswasbasedmainlyonelectricalandelectroniccomponentsandmodules.Thereisnoendinsighttothisdevelopment.Allmainfunctionalareasarestronglyinfluencedbythefieldofelectronicsorevenmadepossiblebyit:e.g.anti-lockbrakesystems,lowemissionandreducedfuelconsumptionthrough electronic motormanagementsystems,anti-theft andelectronic diagnosis systems.

Skilledspecialistsarerequiredforthemaintenanceofmodernvehiclesandthiswillautomaticallyleadtohigherrequirementsinvocationaltrainingandfurthereducationfortheworkshopstaff.Sinceitisnotpossibletoextentthetrainingperiodinordertoteachorobtaintherequiredknowledgeandskills,thisproblemcanonlybesolvedwitheffectiveteachingmethodsusingmodernteachingaids.Aftermorethan40yearsofexperiencewiththedevelopmentandmanufactureoftrainingsystemsinthefieldofautomotiveelectrics/electronics–beginningwith6-Vlightingsystemsand6-Vcontactignition–,ELWEnowoffersinnovativetrainingsystemswhichmeetthehighestrequirementsintechnologyas wellasteachingandtrainingmethods.

ELWEhasdevelopedanextensiveexperimentalsystemtocoverthisimportantsubject.Varioussupplementaryequipmentsetsallowyoutosetupaworkstationcustomisedtoyourdidacticalaimsandavailablebudget.Theexperimentalsystemwillbeextendedasfuturetechnicaladvancesaremade.Italsoallowsteachersorinstructorstoincludeinthesystemsensorsandactuatorsfrom othervehicletypesandbrands.

ForthestudentexercisesELWEonlyusedoriginalsensorsandactuatorsfromrealvehicles.Their functionsareexaminedandstudied in basicinstallations. The testedcomponentsaremountedtoexperimentalmodules,whichareattachedtoaspecialbasegridpanelforvehicles,toconducttheexperiment.Anappropriatemaskfortheexperimentisplacedontothebasegridpanelrightnexttothetestedcomponent.

Thebasiccircuitisprintedonthemask.Themaskisattachedwiththemodularplug-inelementsthatarerequiredtosetupthecircuit.Thesensorsandactuatorsareconnectedviaoriginalvehicleconnectors.Themodularplug-inelementsaresuppliedwithvoltageviashortconnectioncableswith4-mmplugs.The circuit isusually either supplied with voltagefroma12-Vbatteryorfroma12-VDCvoltagesupplyunit.Tosupplythesensorswiththenecessary5V,thesuppliedDCvoltageof12Vistransformedto5Vwiththeplug-inelement\"voltageregulatingtransformer\".

Theactuatorscanbecontrolledwithapulse-widthmodulator,sothatthevariablepulsedutyfactorallowsyoutoexaminetheoperatingprincipleoftheadjusters.
