It is said that a cat has nine lives , and the author believed that , since his experience during the life .

The first part depicts the author's first phase of life , when he was 15 , his father died , he and his family members had a hard struggle to make a living .Well , when he followed his sister's example he began to enjoy everything pleasant : excellent health , a good job ,a nice house , a happy family and lovely daughters .

In the second part , the author describes his second life that he afflicted with a slowly progressive disease of the motor nerves , because of this disease , he

thought if the day arrived when he was unable lift one foot up one step and then drag the other painfully after it - repeating the process 14 times until , utterly spent , he would be through . Thus, he became miserable and frustrated .

In the third part , the author tells us his third life , which began with the trouble of his car on the stormy night , as a cripple , in such a terrible situation , he turned to the blind man and the little girl for help . With a thought that he would pay them for it , he sat in the car comfortable and dry , while the blind man and the little girl fumbling , feeling with cold ,wet fingers for bolts and tools in the dark . And at last ,they charged nothing for him , they were magnanimous and selfless .

In the fourth part ,the author reflected on the incident and his life philosophy

from which he discovered the true value of life . He said \"all things whatever you would that men should do to you ,do you even so to them \" in other words , do to other people whatever you would like them to do to you , which will encourage us forever .
