故事（1） 灰姑娘 故事经典，整体内容较长，故事复杂，难度较大，可以进行相应删减。
Cinderella is a beautiful girl. She has two ugly stepsisters. They are not kind to Cinderella. Cinderella does all of the work. She must cook, clean and do everything.
灰姑娘是个美丽的女孩。她有两个继母生的丑姊姊。这两个姊姊对灰姑娘很不好。所有的事都得要灰姑娘做。她必须煮饭、洗衣，什么事她都要做。

小马过河 (How a Colt Crossed the River)
One day, a colt took a bag of wheat to the mill.
As he was running with the bag on his back, he came to a small river. The colt could not decide whether he could cross it. Looking around, he saw a cow grazing nearby. He asked, \"Aunt Cow, could you tell me if I can cross the river?\" The cow told him that he could and that the river was not very deep, just knee high.
The colt was crossing the river when a squirrel jumped down a tree and stopped him. The squirrel shouted, \"Colt, stop! You'll drown! One of my friends drowned just yesterday in the river.\" Not knowing what to do, the colt went home to consult his mom.
He told his mom his experience on the way. His mother said, \"My child, don't always listen to others. You'd better go and try yourself. Then you'll know what to do.\"
Later, at the river, the squirrel stopped the colt again. \"Little horse, it's too
dangerous!\"

On the other side of the river, the colt realized that the river was neither as shallow as the cow said nor as deep as the squirrel told him.

故事（3） 农夫的故事，故事较短，有寓意，背诵难度一般。
There once was an old farmer. He was a hardworking man, so every year his harvest was very great.
One day, he became sick. He knew he would die soon. He wanted his two sons to look after the farm. \"Long ago,\" he told them, \"I put a great treasure in one of the vineyards.\"
After the farmer died, the sons began to dig carefully around the vines. Every day, they woke up early and worked until night. \"We have to dig everywhere and find the treasure!\" they said.
The two sons dug all summer, but they didn't find the treasure. They were tired and sad. They sat down near the fields and talked one day.
\"Maybe our father was only dreaming,\" said the older son. The younger son was looking at the vineyards. The vines were full of big, juicy grapes. Suddenly, he understood. \"Brother, this great harvest is our treasure!\"
The older brother looked at the vines. \"You're right! Our father has taught us a
wonderful lesson: Hard work brings great rewards.\"

One day the staff members of a zoo called a meeting to discuss the
problem--how to deal with the kangaroos that were found out of the cage. They came to the conclusion that the cage was placed too low and decided to raise it from one to two meters high. But the next day the kangaroos were still at large and they again raised the cage to three meters.
Quite beyond their expectation the next morning they saw the kangaroos still free to go about. They were alarmed and determined to go to all the length by raising the cage to the height of ten meters.
Later a giraffe, while chatting with some kangaroos, asked them, “Do you think they will go on raising your cage?”
“Hard to say,” said a kangaroo, “if they continue forgetting to fasten the cage door.”

故事（5） 兔子和狐狸，比较有趣，句子难度一般。
The Rabbit and the Fox
Once there was a naughty rabbit. He likes to play tricks, and it made other animals angry. But it was very different to catch him.
One day, a wolf said to a fox, “I have an idea to catch the rabbit. You go back home and get into bed. I’ll go to the rabbit and tell him that you are dead. If he comes to see you, you’ll jump up and catch him.”
“Good idea,” said the fox, “I’ll do that.” Then fox ran home and got into bed. The wolf went to the rabbit’s house and said, “Mr. Rabbit, have you heard Mr. Fox is dead?” The wolf stood at the door, and then he went away.
“Really? I haven’t heard anything about it.” The rabbit said to himself, so he decided to go and see if it was true. He went to the fox’s house and looked in through the window. He saw the fox lying in bed. He opened the door and went in. he looked at the fox and said, “Mr. Wolf says Mr.Fox is dead, but he doesn’t look like a dead fox. A dead fox always open his mouth.”
When the fox heard this, he thought, “I’ll show him that I am dead.” So he opened his mouth.
The rabbit saw the fox open his mouth, and he knew the fox was not dead. He ran out of the house as fast as he could.

Little Red Riding Hood
Little Red Riding Hood is a lovely girl. She likes red hats. So her mother calls her little Red Riding Hood.
Her grandma loves her very much. But now she is ill. Her mother is busy. So she asks little Riding Hood to see her grandma.
In the forest, a wolf sees little Red Riding Hood, “Look, little Riding Hood. I have children for lunch, the path goes to her grandma’s house.”
The wolf comes to grandma’s house and eats grandma. Then he wears grandma’s glasses and clothes, and in her bed.
