Revolutionary Martyrs Cemerery(深圳革命烈士陵园) in Futian District on April 4th, Tomb-Sweeping Day, to pay tribute to(致敬) the soldiers who gave their lives for the nation. One of them, Gong Jun, said young people should always remember the fearless spirit of fallen soldiers in facing dangers and difficulties.
He Jing, a local person, visited hup://tyjr:.sz.gov.cn/zt/szylw/wsjd,the Shenzhen official website for martyrs, to pay tribute to He Guanjie. The martyr joined the Dongjiang Column of the
Guangdong People's Anti-Japanese Aggression Guerrilla Force(广东人民抗日游击队东江纵队) in 1942 and gave his life at 23. \"I pay tribute to him with my children every year,\" said He Jing to Shenzhen Daily.
Data from the Shenzhen Municipal Veterans Affairs Bureau showed that 1,122 people have been recorded as martyrs until now, including 34 with incomplete information. The government said it would make every effort to complete the information of the 34 martyrs so that they would not be forgotten by history.
Founded in 1986, the 57,000-square-metre Shenzhen Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery houses many martyrs. The Shenzhen Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall in the cemetery shows materials and pictures of them from different periods in Shenzhen. The names of 1,050martyrs who fought and gave their lives in Shenzhen since 1900 can be seen at the southwest corner of the cemetery.
